The Wedding Dress Hunt
Part 1 ~ The Prep Work
You’re engaged! Perhaps you’ve envisioned this day since you were a young girl. Or, you may be a bit overwhelmed with where to even begin. Once you’ve selected the overall theme for your wedding, it’s time to start dress shopping. Here are some valuable tips to make the most of your experience:
1. Decide who you want to bring along on your first shopping trip. Keep in mind, everyone you bring will have an opinion and may want to help pull dresses for you to try on. Imagine if you had ten people inundating you with thirty dresses – no thank you! Limit your attendees to less than four people for your first visit. If you want to include all of your bridesmaids and immediate family, you can always bring them back for a second visit when you have narrowed your options down to one or two dresses and are ready to make your purchase.
2. Call ahead to schedule an appointment. Whether you want to make a day of visiting many stores, or you have just one store in mind, go ahead and schedule a time to work with a consultant. Even if the store permits walk-ins, scheduling a personalized consultation will help make sure you get the attention you deserve.
3. Be Open Minded. You may have browsed through the latest magazines and fallen in love with a mermaid-style dress, but keep your options open to different styles. You might be surprised which dress style turns out to be “The One” for you, once you wear it on the stage.
